Hello Everyone! Hope each and every one of you are having a wonderful and fabulous start to your day! I know I have, thanks to God. 🙂
So today’s reading was just like WOW to me. Lol. Why couldn’t I have had this yesterday? But there was a lesson that was learned yesterday: My weaknesses were tested. While I have improved by the grace, mercy and love of God, I realized I still have a LONG ways to go.
Why is it that when things go rough, we turn to worldly things instead of God? Even though we know God is the only one that can TRULY comfort us and give us understanding, mercy, grace, love and peace that earthly possessions can not? My guess is that we allow our fleshly desires overcome our spiritual desires. We literally have to put on our cross EACH AND EVERY SINGLE DAY and if it wasn’t for God and His Holy Spirit, we would not be able to control ourselves. We all make mistakes, we all fall into temptations, that’s okay! Extend yourself grace and ask God for forgiveness. Don’t be so hard on yourself! God loved you WAY before the earth was even created (another WOW lol), He is the one that created you so He already knows how you will be, how you will act, and what your weaknesses and strengths are and yet, He still chooses to love us ALL. Simply amazing! I cannot explain how awesome and amazing our wonderful God is! I love Him so much!
Just thought I would share that with you guys 🙂 It was heavy on my mind. But let’s get into the topic of today’s post.
Today’s Scriptures: Psalm 123, Philippians 4:4-9. (Songs of Ascent) – NKJV.
1: Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens.
1: Lift your eyes, prayers and attention to God the Father and He will give you comfort! He may not take away your circumstances, but He will be with you every step of the way! Remember tribulation brings: perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character; HOPE! (Romans 5:3-4 NKJV)
4: Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
5: Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
6: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7: and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8: Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—-meditate on these things.
9: The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
4: You should rejoice and praise God at all times, regardless of whether things seem good or bad because God is ALWAYS with you, holding your hand through each and every single thing! Stand on His Word, truths, and promises! Everything works together for His will and His glory. You can rest in that, that God knows exactly what He is doing and is in control of EVERYTHING! He loves you regardless of what’s going on in your life! Don’t go by what you feel, but by His truths and promises!
– Personal Confession: I need to learn to trust God completely, not just 75% of the way. He is TRUSTWORTHY and I need to stand on His Word more. –
5: Be gentle and kind to one another, to each and every single person you meet. You don’t know their circumstances!
6: Do not fear any circumstance you are going through, God has not given you a spirit of fear! (2 Timothy 1:7) so let God know your troubles and concerns and He will comfort you and answer you. Thank Him for He is ALWAYS GOOD!
7: God will give you peace and comfort to ease your heart and mind.
8: Focus on all things GOOD and PURE and meditate on them!
9: God will follow you and be with you wherever you go. He will always give you PEACE and COMFORT, just remember to call out on Him and praise Him!
“Worry is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do but never gets you anywhere.” – Erma Bombeck.
Prayer causes us to humble ourselves. We begin to find the things we think we have control of if we worry enough, are completely in God’s hands. That we are His children, therefore we are also in His perfect timing and will.
Prayer reminds us to give thanks. We are so busy dwelling on what we don’t have, what we still need, what has gone wrong, that the many blessings poured on us are often lost. Coming to God in prayer gives us a chance to simply breathe a “Thank You.”
Positive thinking: Our ability to change our thought process to an ideal outcome we would like to have, not reality. Focuses on SELF, not GOD.
Perspective thinking: Focuses on JESUS, letting His Word be our minds guide. Prayer focus us again on how any situation, any outcome can be used for the glory of God. Not only the ones we wanted or think equal happiness.
