Ladies, this topic has been heavily laid on my heart today. So many of us women entertain our emotions because, hey, we are women and we are emotional. That’s what the world says, right?
I’m here to tell you now, that that is a LIE!
Emotions are fickle. You may be in a goodie, two-shoe season with God when everything is going right and you STILL feel sad. Am I right, ladies? I’ve been there myself. I know how it feels. Then you spend hours upon hours trying to figure out why you feel that way.
Let’s use a scenario, for example. You get angry at someone or some circumstance and hastily make a decision based on temporary emotions. We’ve all been there, right ladies? I know I have, and I wouldn’t say I regret it, but God definitely convicts me of it.
I use to be a very controlling person and when I wouldn’t get my way, I’d let my emotions have their way. I was UGLY back then. I didn’t know I could control my thoughts, or my emotions. Now, it’s like. As long as I know I have tried my best, I leave it as it is. I don’t chase after anything or anyone. I allow what is meant to happen in God’s will, to happen. I’ve learned that if it takes TOO much effort to get something to work out, maybe it’s in your best interest to take a break and really think, is this what God wants for me? I’m more peaceful and calm about things now, even when people mistreat me or things don’t go my way because I know God is in control.
Or say for example, you allow a circumstance to get you more upset than it should. You then start to entertain EVERY thought that pops into your head, which then starts to create worry. Yes, I’ve been there as well, sister. Haven’t you ever heard of the saying: “Worrying is like a rocking chair; It may keep you busy but it won’t get you anywhere” … Worrying, being sad or even being angry is just flat out useless!
We’re always going to have some sort of trial or circumstance in our life. But always remember what the Lord says in His Word:
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 – NLT)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6 – NIV)
My point is, don’t allow your feelings to control you. They will drive you crazy. They change every minute of every day and are so very fickle. I’ve learned this the hard way.
I don’t know who this is for but I feel it’s for someone that needs it (myself included because I’m over here a little in my feelings right now LMBO) … But take everything to the Lord! Cast all your cares on Him and He will fulfill His every 3,000 promises in the Bible for you!
Be blessed y’all! God loves you and so do I!
